Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara Review

So I've tried the Revlon Photoready 3D Mascara in the non-waterproof and waterproof version and I decided to review the product as a whole.

Pro: This mascara doesn't clump. Sort of. (I'll elaborate more on the con section). The waterproof one doesn't smudge on me (yay!). It lengthens and volumizes my lashes, making them look very lovely. It honestly does everything you expect a mascara to do. The wand consists of tiny, thin, flexible bristles that even curve to the top, for getting into the crevices of your lashes. I really like the shape of it since I don't get it on my top eyelid.
Con: The waterproof mascara removes like one; it's quite difficult to get off sometimes. The results aren't absolutely amazing but gets the job done and I ain't complaining, just don't expect some false lash effect. This does clump after a couple coats (it says on the packaging to not apply more than 2), which really sucks since I love layering coat after coat for my mascaras. The tips of the wand seems more of a nuisance rather than a convenience since that's where most of the mascara formula goops on (as you can see from the picture); hence, goops on my lashes. The results from the non-waterproof version is better.

Conclusion: This is a good mascara. Good, not great, at least for my lashes. I admit it keeps a curl well and the non-waterproof one works better than the waterproof version, which dries out my lashes like crazy! I may repurchase the NW one in the future but probably not the WP one, I'd recommend Covergirl's Lashblast Waterproof or Covergirl's new Clump Crush water-resistant mascara (review coming soon) instead.

Benefit Bad Gal Mascara Review

I recently purchased the travel-size version of Benefit's Bad Gal Lash mascara, which has been a well-known favorite since its release. So I decided to give it a go and the results were honestly not that great.

The brush is a big, "natural" (by that, I mean it's NOT rubber) brush, the norm for most mascaras. The first time I did get some mascara on my eyelid due to the size but I got used to it after that.

As for the formula and effect of the mascara, I'd say it was pretty mediocre my first time. It was very "natural" and didn't do much for my lashes at all (I'd say Maybelline Full N' Soft). Unless you have incredibly long lashes and want some extra "color" or a teensy bit more thickness, I'd say this would work wonders. But with my straight, short-ass lashes, it definitely did not work very well at all. I must say though that after using it a few more times, the results were quite better, if possible. I'd say they were lengthened, a little more voluminous and was kept curled.

So that's why my biggest complaint about this mascara is the smudging. Mascaras and eye products in general smudge on me very easily due to my oily eyelids and just the shape of my eye. This gave me raccoon eyes in 3 hours; I tested this by not wearing any other product but this. It was such a disappointment, similar to what happened with Physician's Formula Jumbo Organicwear Mascara (the black tube), which was PHENOMENAL but I sadly had to give it up. However, I think I may repurchase it again and use that mascara as a base and just coat it with a waterproof mascara to minimize smudging since I loved it so much.

All in all, my opinion on this product improved from my first impression and I'll probably try to put on a coat of waterproof mascara over this to prevent those unattractive raccoon eyes. Whether or not I'll repurchase this, not too sure since Covergirl LashBlast and Maybelline One by One are cheaper (even though the travel size was only $10) and I don't have to go through the hassle of using a waterproof mascara.

Covergirl Lash Blast Review

I'm just going to say right off the bat that this was the first time I tried taking a picture of my eye for this review and boy is it hard! They are not the best pictures but I hope they will suffice to see how effective this mascara is. Like always, this is just my opinion and products work differently for different people. Also, keep in mind I have short, straight lashes so the pictures may not make the product look as effective, but it really is!

Pro: The formula of the mascara is more on the drier side; hence, it doesn't wilt my lashes as easily as other mascaras do as long as I give my lashes a good curl. Like the name implies, this mascara definitely volumizes yet without clumping. However, two applications should be enough or else spider lashes may form. I really like this mascara because there are hardly any smudges (I'm very prone to smudging) by the end of the day. The brush consists or short, rubber bristles, which surprisingly works well combing through my lashes.
Con: This mascara does clump a little on my lower lashes so I never use it on them. The dry formula dries up even more as time progresses and if you are one to keep you mascaras a little longer than the 3 month mark (mascaras' expiration date), this will definitely be unusable after 3 1/2 months. Even though it volumizes, it doesn't do much as far as length goes. My lashes do wilt a little but I'll be slightly forgiving since it's not too significant and I have naturally straight lashes. And to be really picky, the tube is also plain/ugly and a little bulky.

Before w/o any mascara on, my lashes are already curled:
Awkward you can see the camera reflecting off my eye
 After two applications:

Please excuse my unplucked brows.

I've tried both the waterproof formula and the regular formula and they both account for my review, except the waterproof one does dry up your lashes after removing it (as most waterproof mascaras do).

In spite of the minor critiques, I would still repurchase this (technically, I already did since this is my 2nd purchase).

How did lashblast work for you?

Maybelline One by One Mascara Review

Mascara is my most essential beauty product because mascara (and an eyelash curler) really do open up my eyes. Whenever I want to go out wearing minimal make-up, I tend to at least wear mascara. Having short straight lashes is upsetting at times because it's absolutely aggravating to find the right mascara that will not flatten my curled lashes.

I bought the Maybelline One by One Mascara half a year ago and have fallen in love with it since then. This is one of my favorite--if not favorite--mascaras of all time. I tend to find Maybelline mascaras extremely watery, which doesn't mix well with straight lashes. Surprisingly, the One by One mascara wasn't as watery as say, the Great Lash, but still not as dry as Covergirl's Lash Blast formula. When I first applied this, I wasn't that impressed. However, I don't know if perhaps the formula dried up a little, but the mascara worked wonders a week later. Does anybody else ever try a product the first time and have it grow on you later? Well, this happened to me. The mascara does not flatten my lashes and lengthens, separates, and volumizes lashes without clumping . In addition, IT DOESN'T SMUDGE!! Hallelujah.

Although I do not have long, voluminous lashes, I do have a decent (not a lot though) amount of them. I'm not sure how this would perform for those with sparse lashes.

The wand consists of rubber bristles that really get into every crevice between your lashes. I usually apply 2-3 coats of this and I'm ready to dart out the door.

What are your favorite mascaras?
