Crest 3D Whitestrips Professional Effects Review

I've always wanted to whiten my teeth, but the price tag of most professional dental treatments has always deterred me from doing so. I've eyed Crest's 3D Whitestrips for a long time and finally splurged (and I use that term lightly because it is cheap for a whitening treatment...around $50). There are many different types of Crest Whitestrips but I chose the Professional Effects version with 20 treatments.

Each treatment comes with two strips, one for the bottom set of teeth and one for the top set of teeth. The strip is only long enough to cover your most front teeth (fang to fang), so don't expect to get your molars whitened too. You should apply the bottom strip first. To apply the strips, peel them and stick them on your teeth starting where the teeth meets the gum. Press over the strip until it sticks onto your teeth and into all crevices (this is important to get an even distribution of bleach) and fold over the rest of the strip behind your teeth. You use one treatment per day and leave them in for 30 mins each time. I believe you're also not supposed to use this more than twice a year.

Immediately upon application, the strips were a lot longer than I expected them to be. I already have a small mouth so these strips really stretched far back to my mouth, covering almost two of my molars. It was also more slippery than I expected them to be. These strips are meant to be "strong grip, no slip" but I felt like it wasn't as sticky as it could've been on my teeth, especially near the later treatments. In fact, when I applied the strips, it reacted with my teeth immediately and formed a foamy, white substance. All the application videos I watched on this product never mentioned this so maybe it was just a chemical reaction to my teeth. Either way, it was really unexpected. It was almost hard pressing down on the strips for them to stick because the foam wasn't helping them grip.

For some background, I have pretty sensitive teeth. I can't even bite into popsicles or ice cream. These aren't supposed to hurt but if you do experience pain, reviewers have suggested to take a one day break between treatments. I did experience some days with painful throbbing but it wasn't unbearable. I just waited a day until my next treatment and it was perfectly fine. 

Results are meant to be seen within a few days of treatment and many reviewers had corroborated this. Unfortunately, I didn't exactly see results until around the sixth day. The whitening was definitely more prominent in my two buck teeth than my other teeth, perhaps because they stick out more than the others.

As a disclaimer, I drank a lot of teeth-staining substances (Coke, tea, coffee, etc.) near the end of the treatments, which definitely hindered the whitening process. Even so, I saw great results in the middle of my treatment but started to see more teeth staining, especially in between my teeth, near the end. After finishing the treatment, I've noticed my teeth is slowly going yellow again.

All in all, this treatment wasn't as effective as I had hoped. To be fair, I did drink a lot of teeth staining substances (bad Emily!). I still don't regret buying this relatively inexpensive product and would use it again if my teeth became really yellow again. However, don't expect extremely gorgeous pearly whites from this product. For that, you might just want to go to a professional.

E.l.f. Haul and Reviews

As much as I'd love to splurge on expensive makeup, it just realistically isn't practical for me. Although I've purchased from the extremely inexpensive makeup brand "E.l.f." before, I never really delved into the brand as much as I have this week. In fact, I purchased 7 products this week alone. I bought four brushes and three products: the Elf Makeup Mist & Set, Elf Baked Highlighter in 'Moonlight Pearls' and the Elf Eyebrow Kit in 'Dark'. All of them were part of the studio line and were $3...what a steal! 

E.l.f. Makeup Mist & Set Spray

I always wanted Mac Fixed Plus or Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray, but I could never bring myself to spend so much money for a squirt bottle. I ended up trying out this spray as a cheaper alternative to those high-end products. Unfortunately, I was thoroughly disappointed by this product. My problem isn't necessarily with the product itself but with its packaging. As a setting spray, I expected the nozzle to spray an even fan of mist all over my face. Instead, I got a forceful squirt of a stream of liquid. The nozzle literally squirts like a water gun, in one streamlined motion. I couldn't even test whether it set my makeup or not, because I couldn't get the product over my face! I felt like I was just shooting my face in different points with a water gun. I was very disappointed and threw it out after just a couple of sprays.

Elf Eyebrow Kit (Dark)

Many beauty gurus have said great things about the Elf Eyebrow Kit. I never fill in my eyebrows because I am terrified by how different I look after each attempt. Yet, I decided to pick this product up on a whim. After all, it was only $3! I got the darkest shade, fittingly named 'Dark'. There is also a 'Medium' and 'Light'. The kit comes in a sleek compact, the usual packaging of many E.l.f. products, and includes a gel and a powder.

When I put this on, I think I heard angels singing. The color was a perfect match for my eyebrows because it wasn't too dark or light, a problem I've had with other brow products. My brows didn't have the stark contrast I always cringed at. I think the best thing about this product is that you don't pick up too much of the color, so your brows don't look ridiculously dark. Even the tiny dual-ended brush that comes with this kit works well, although I go for my angled Sonia Kashuk brush. I mainly use the powder but the gel works just as great. I usually end up using both! As a person who never filled in her brows, this product has changed my life. I can finally fill in my eyebrows with confidence and more importantly, I can finally say my eyebrows are on fleek (sorry...I had to).

Elf Baked Highlighter in 'Moonlight Pearls'

I've been dying to try this product since KathleenLights raved about the Elf Baked Highlighters on her channel. The reviews and swatches of this product seemed to corroborate her opinion, so I decided to purchase this. The baked highlighters weren't available at Target so I ended up purchasing this on Amazon.

I absolutely love highlighting. I have extremely dry skin, so any glow to my face is greatly appreciated. I have the Dior Shimmerstar in 'Amber Diamond' and I absolutely adore it (though I think it's been discontinued). I also own Benefit's High Beam, which works just as nicely. However, I wanted to see if there was a good drugstore highlighter and had high expectations for this one after all the rave reviews. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the poor color payoff. 

'Moonlight Pearls' is a nice shimmery highlighter but I was disappointed by the pigmentation, especially because online pictures and reviews made it seem like it was very pigmented. I found myself having to rub the product several times to get significant color payoff. I used the E.l.f. fan brush to apply this product to the top of my cheekbones and was delighted and surprised to see a nice glow. Perhaps this product isn't as 'swatch-able' but still functions well as a highlighter. Even so, I'm pretty ambivalent on how I feel about this product. I think I'll continue to use it but not repurchase it. My search for a drugstore highlighter continues. I'm thinking I'll try Physician's Formula's Shimmer Brick next. 

I guess I scored 1.5/3 with my purchases, but I fared a lot better with the brushes. Maybe I'll do an upcoming post featuring all my e.l.f. brushes...or just a makeup brush collection post in general. I'll see how I feel. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know if there are any good e.l.f. products I should try.

Revlon Colorstay Foundation Review

I must admit I'm far too lazy to ever use foundation, and it is definitely one of the products I almost never wear. I find that hardly anything works well with my dry skin. Everything just ends up patchy and settles in fine lines, contributing to "cake face". But because my acne has gotten particularly bad recently and I have a lot of acne scars and red spots, I finally pushed myself to purchase the famous Revlon Colorstay foundation. I used my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to buff it in. Though I was worried about the matte finish (I always prefer dewy foundations because of my dry skin), it didn't look as cakey or patchy as I expected. Instead, it blended rather seamlessly. The coverage is medium to heavy, which is good for covering my acne. However, it doesn't feel heavy on my skin at all. 

Revlon Colorstay Normal/Dry Skin in 150 Buff

The only foundation I've ever really liked is the incredibly dewy Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, because it was light yet buildable and didn't patch up on me. Revlon Colorstay beats that because the tone is not as orangey as Fit Me and is more of a neutral tone, suiting all skin types. Its coverage is also significantly better than the Fit Me foundation and did a good job covering up my acne spots. I also have some really bad acne scars, which was covered well by this foundation.

The only bad thing about this foundation was the fact that it sometimes settled into my fine lines and dry patches. It definitely isn't a bad as other foundations I've tried and unless you take one of those zoom-in mirrors to your face, the settling is dismissive. The foundation in 150 Buff was also a little too light for me, but that's on me. 

All in all, this inexpensive foundation definitely lived up to its expectations and made me smile looking at my near flawless skin--a feeling I haven't felt in a long time.

'Orange is the New Black' Is Back and NOT Better Than Ever

The start of my summer started on a rather exciting note with the release of Season 3 of "Orange is the New Black" (can we say FINALLY). Being the professional binge-watcher I am, I successfully finished the season within a week. Although each episode was interesting and humorous as ever, I felt the season culminated in a disappointing finale that left me going "That was it?". 

(***NOTE: SPOILERS AHEAD***)

To be fair, I enjoyed each episode individually but I felt the overarching storyline of season 3 just didn't do it for me. I was especially disappointed my character and plot developments. To organize my scattered thoughts, I'm going to break down the season into the parts I liked/didn't like.

Piper and Alex

Though Piper and Alex may have been the protagonists in the first two seasons, they turned out to be the two most boring characters in the latest season. Not only has their relationship fizzled out, their storylines have as well. Piper's innocent persona transformed into an obnoxious ring leader, and Alex's paranoia over Kubra became overplayed and annoying. I missed the old Piper and I just didn't buy her turning into a twisted, cruel badass. Even actual badass Alex couldn't stand her anymore. Piper also seemed to have lost her moral compass and sanity, leading her to backstabbing, vengeance, and gangster-related leadership. However, I will concede that I thought the whole black market of prison-worn panties to be a pretty funny side plot. Yet, it still couldn't save from the yawns that occurred every time Piper was focused on the show (noticeably less this season than the past...thank goodness). 

Stella

I already saw social media going "lesbian" for Ruby Rose before the season was even released. Therefore, I've been looking forward to her arrival for quite some time and was surprised by her delayed appearance (around ep. 4? can't remember) and even more surprised by her lack of character development. Sure, she was absolutely stunning and even Piper couldn't resist her, but I felt like Stella had so much potential to grow on the viewers until she was backstabbed by Piper and whisked away to Max (CURSE PIPER!). Other than a few snarky remarks, Stella's characterization wasn't developed whatsoever. She was just some mysterious, snarky, hot chick who Piper cheated with. I really hope she comes back for season 4 so we can learn more about her past.

The Latinas

Perhaps the most annoying ethnic group this season was The Latinas. Although their sassy retorts are always amusing fodder, I couldn't stand the attitudes of some of the women, especially Aleida (Daya's mom) and Gloria. I've never been a fan of Aleida because she is such a horrible mother and despicable human being but season 3 really took the cake for me. I scoffed at her self-profiting scheme masked by phony concern for her pregnant daughter's well-being and was particularly mad when she told Mendez's mom the baby died. I get it was her trying to right a wrong with her daughter but the finale clearly showed it was the wrong move when Cesar got busted by the DEA. Who knows where Daya's baby will end up? In addition, Gloria's self-entitled attitude was beyond aggravating the entire season. Whether it was her assertion in the kitchen to her selfish response to Sophia, she was (excuse my french) a crazy bitch this season. I'm glad Red eventually took over the kitchen. The fact that Sophia had to suffer so brutally due to Aleida and Gloria's juvenile personalities made me dislike them even more. On the other hand, I absolutely loved Daya this season and my heart broke for her when Bennet (damn you Bennet!) left her. I also felt bad for the air-headed Flaca, who has shown some aspiration (poorly thought out ones but still admirable) in the prison. 

Litchfield Takeover
The worst part of this entire season was the Litchfield takeover. I'm glad the prison was saved, but I couldn't stand the new correctional officers (other than the new counselor) and corporate overhauling. All of the new employees were so idiotic that I couldn't stand watching them at some points. Pennsatucky's rape angered me so much and I felt so bad for the character I used to hate so much. I hope that correctional officer meets a sufficient punishment in the next season. And when Sophia was being beaten by those women, the female CO who did nothing but run to Caputo was so idiotic...I wanted to slap her through my computer screen. I genuinely felt bad for the former employees and Caputo, who is morally conflicted. Though I understand where they were coming from, I'm sad they all left and hope they will come back for their old jobs. 

Finale
The finale itself was filled with little plot twists that didn't surprise me as much as I assume the directors were hoping for. For instance, the only unpredictable event was when Piper turned on Stella (and of course, Stella turning on Piper before...which made me believe their relationship was a lie). It made me mad because it meant we might never see Stella again and Piper has turned into the cruel bitch I never thought she'd be--and in a bad way. Possibly the only loose end I look forward to is the fate of Alex, who has been tracked down by presumably one of Kubra's spies, who was hired as a CO. The stupidest plot turn in the finale was the gaping hole in the fence, allowing all the prisoners to escape...to a seemingly confined lake. That scene was so anti-climatic and disappointing. The ending scene, which showed A LOT of new prisoners, also didn't have the POW I was looking for. I could honestly care less about doubling the cast of this show. If anything, it makes me mad because I don't want to care about any more characters. But season 4 might prove me wrong.

Overall, I was disappointed by the stupidity of some of season 3's plot turns (like Norma's "cult"). I did love the different back stories, but OITNB lost a little bit of its charm and ingenuity that were apparent the past two seasons. I hope season 4 will be much better.

NYX Natural Eye Palette

 Hey guys! I picked up a NYX eye palette in 'Natural'. I actually have no eyeshadow palette in my makeup collection (like I said before, I hardly ever wear shadow). This was an impulsive buy because I was intrigued by the easily wearable colors and I tend to be attracted to NYX products.

As you can see, all the colors are matte, everyday colors except for the second from the left, which is a light golden shimmer.

The pigmentation of these shadows were slightly disappointing. I expected them to be softer and have more color payoff but most of them were pretty chalky, particularly the shimmery one. This is unfortunate since these shadows are really nice natural colors.

This palette is alright and I don't exactly regret the $8 I spent, but I'm sure there are better options for the same or less amount of money.

My Thoughts on "The Fault in Our Stars"

Nowadays, I'm not usually moved by films. I think I've gotten my fair share of movies that have moved me in some way and it gets increasingly difficult for the next film to beat the preceding one.

But you have got to be living under a rock if you have somehow evaded the ubiquitous buzz regarding "The Fault in Our Stars". I never read the renowned novel and had relatively low expectations except for the fact that I would cry my heart out after this. And I did.

This movie was a serious tearjerker. I have never bawled my eyes out as much as I did during this movie. Not from The Notebook, Titanic, Schindler's List, Forrest Gump, Up, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, etc. No. TFIOS was seriously the biggest bitch of bitches for my tear ducts. I hated it. No, what am I saying? I loved every second of this masterpiece.

This wasn't some cheesy, tragic, sugarcoated, unrealistic love story. It was raw and portrayed life and cancer in such an insightful, real way. Life is not some grandeur, YOLO adventure; sometimes, you're slapped with cancer and you cannot control your fate no matter how much you want to.

I fell in love with the love story between Gus and Hazel, portrayed excellently by Ansel Elgort Shailene Woodley, and the theme of TFIOS. As promised, I cried for the whole second half of the movie. The theater workers standing near the exit definitely got some entertainment watching all the audience members exit with smeared mascara, bloodshot, watery eyes.

This film was so artfully done and had a profound effect on me. I am beyond lucky to say I have never been directly touched by someone with cancer (although I've had distant family members succumb to the disease) but I know a majority of people have. This film was beautiful and tackled on the serious subject of the disease in such a different way. Sure, there was the typical melancholy tone but John Green and Josh Boone did it in such a light-hearted, unsentimental way, it ironically emphasized the gravity of cancer. TFIOS undoubtedly touched many hearts and has cracked my top 5 movies.

If you do watch this brilliant film, I highly suggest bringing tissues with you. There won't be a dry eye in the audience by the end of this tearjerker.

Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo Eyeshadows

I went to Target ages ago and bought a few beauty products--namely eyeshadow. This was quite a change since I never ever wear eyeshadow but I decided to just go for it.

I purchased the Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo eyeshadows in 'Bold Gold' and 'Bad to the Bronze'. I know this product was hyped up a year ago but it's never too late right?

I chose gel eyeshadow since I figured it'd be easier and quicker to apply with a swipe of a finger and it seemed like it would last long on my sweaty eyelids (gross).

The pigmentation of these eyeshadows is amazing. One swipe of the finger gives you an opaque amount of color. The sheen of these two particular colors are also amazing. They offer a nice shimmer/shine yet straying from a tacky glittery shadow. Although I did not wear the shadow for 24 hours to verify if the product's name stands true, I did wear it for quite a bit, around ten hours, and the shadow seemed to have stay put. Application was simple; I just used my finger!

All in all, I would definitely recommend these.

Dior Shimmerstar: Amber Diamond First Impression

So I recently made a big splurge at Sephora and bought the a very hyped-up product, the Diorskin Shimmerstar in Amber Diamond.

The packaging was super nice (well, duh, it's Christian Dior.) In the box, it came in a cute velvet pouch and inside the actual product.

The product retails for around 45$ or so, which is ridiculously expensive but I needed a highlighter and I never actually bought a Dior product due to the big price tag but I wanted to indulge a little since the reviews were so amazing.

The product comes with several shimmery colors (the picture just doesn't do it justice). As you can see, it goes from a nice shimmery white and darkens while fading to a nice tan brown. 

 I want to apologize for the poor photos of the swatches. I was hesitant to post them since you can't even see them due to my crappy camera and pale skin. For some reason, it was incredibly difficult to get the right lighting and my camera isn't some expensive professional one. I can't even explain to you how how much these photos don't do the product justice. It really is a nice tan shimmer.

Again, I'm so sorry for the bad photo.  The photos don't do the product justice. It looks beautiful in real life.

This product wears nicely on the face by giving it a nice shimmer. I have really dry skin so it's nice to make my complexion glow a little more. I'm not sure how well it would work on oilier skin tones though. I personally don't think it's overly obvious or anything if that helps.

The versatility of the colors is what makes this product great. You can use the lightest shade as a highlight on the inner corner of the eyes or underneath the brow bone, each color as an eyeshadow, maybe even a shimmery bronzer  and of course, a highlighter (each one separately or mix em' all together). 

The steep price tag was the biggest drawback of this product and I haven't had it long enough to say whether it's worth it but I know I'm going to like this a lot and many reviewers seem to say the product lasts long. 

If you are willing to splurge for a good-quality highlighter, I'd do some thorough research but I can say that most (I myself included) reviewers will say the product is absolutely worth it. (I'll update this post if it's not)

Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara Review

So I've tried the Revlon Photoready 3D Mascara in the non-waterproof and waterproof version and I decided to review the product as a whole. 

Pro: This mascara doesn't clump. Sort of. (I'll elaborate more on the con section). The waterproof one doesn't smudge on me (yay!). It lengthens and volumizes my lashes, making them look very lovely. It honestly does everything you expect a mascara to do. The wand consists of tiny, thin, flexible bristles that even curve to the top, for getting into the crevices of your lashes. I really like the shape of it since I don't get it on my top eyelid.
Con: The waterproof mascara removes like one; it's quite difficult to get off sometimes. The results aren't absolutely amazing but gets the job done and I ain't complaining, just don't expect some false lash effect. This does clump after a couple coats (it says on the packaging to not apply more than 2), which really sucks since I love layering coat after coat for my mascaras. The tips of the wand seems more of a nuisance rather than a convenience since that's where most of the mascara formula goops on (as you can see from the picture); hence, goops on my lashes. The results from the non-waterproof version is better.

Conclusion: This is a good mascara. Good, not great, at least for my lashes. I admit it keeps a curl well and the non-waterproof one works better than the waterproof version, which dries out my lashes like crazy! I may repurchase the NW one in the future but probably not the WP one, I'd recommend Covergirl's Lashblast Waterproof or Covergirl's new Clump Crush water-resistant mascara (review coming soon) instead.

Benefit Bad Gal Mascara Review

I recently purchased the travel-size version of Benefit's Bad Gal Lash mascara, which has been a well-known favorite since its release. So I decided to give it a go and the results were honestly not that great.

The brush is a big, "natural" (by that, I mean it's NOT rubber) brush, the norm for most mascaras. The first time I did get some mascara on my eyelid due to the size but I got used to it after that.

As for the formula and effect of the mascara, I'd say it was pretty mediocre my first time. It was very "natural" and didn't do much for my lashes at all (I'd say Maybelline Full N' Soft). Unless you have incredibly long lashes and want some extra "color" or a teensy bit more thickness, I'd say this would work wonders. But with my straight, short-ass lashes, it definitely did not work very well at all. I must say though that after using it a few more times, the results were quite better, if possible. I'd say they were lengthened, a little more voluminous and was kept curled.

So that's why my biggest complaint about this mascara is the smudging. Mascaras and eye products in general smudge on me very easily due to my oily eyelids and just the shape of my eye. This gave me raccoon eyes in 3 hours; I tested this by not wearing any other product but this. It was such a disappointment, similar to what happened with Physician's Formula Jumbo Organicwear Mascara (the black tube), which was PHENOMENAL but I sadly had to give it up. However, I think I may repurchase it again and use that mascara as a base and just coat it with a waterproof mascara to minimize smudging since I loved it so much.

All in all, my opinion on this product improved from my first impression and I'll probably try to put on a coat of waterproof mascara over this to prevent those unattractive raccoon eyes. Whether or not I'll repurchase this, not too sure since Covergirl LashBlast and Maybelline One by One are cheaper (even though the travel size was only $10) and I don't have to go through the hassle of using a waterproof mascara.

Essie Magnetic Polish: Repstyle First Impression

I'm a little late on the magnetic nail polish trend but I came across the Essie Magnetic Polishes at Target and picked one up from this collection for $10. I decided to go for a metallic green/olive polish called Repstyle. 

The instructions were hidden behind this sticker, I had to peel it off.

The instructions say after you paint your second coat, you must immediately hold the magnet over the wet polish as close as you can for five seconds for a snakeskin design. Emphasis on the immediately! 

I ended up having to redo four of my fingers and even one three times! Warning, some nails only showed designs in the middle of the nail most likely because I didn't rotate the polish above the whole nail.

 This polish gave me a LOT of trouble with the somewhat vague instructions. I also kept on putting the magnet too close and occasionally got polish on it. I was really frustrated, especially because I find the design mediocre and slightly creepy at some angles. However, the polish did glide on smoothly and I didn't have to clean-up any extra residue for once.  I made a mistake by not putting the magnet over fast enough and didn't make my second coat very thick. I really do believe you need to hold it longer than 5 seconds, since some came out better than others when I hovered it over my nail longer.

I'm still not sure whether or not I'll buy another polish from this collection since it seemed too much of a hassle the first time for the end product. Perhaps it was just me being an amateur. Just remember: GO VERY FAST AND ROTATE AROUND NAIL.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Review

I've never been an avid foundation wearer because  I can never get myself to wake up early enough to take the time to put on a full face of makeup. However, I do occasionally put on foundation and I stumbled upon a great foundation that works well with my skin tone. 

I have the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 120 and let me tell you: every single time I wear this, I ALWAYS get at least one compliment. It doesn't have to be necessarily about my skin but just that "I look good." Whether I'm wearing eye makeup and a nice outfit or rocking a natural face and a "rolled out of bed" outfit, I always receive a compliment if I wear this foundation! It's sort of ridiculous. 

I'm just going to put out there right now that if you have oily skin, this is not the foundation for you. It's quite dewy and definitely gives you this nice illuminating glow--which is awesome for my extremely dry skin--but may make those with oily skin look much oilier. This offers light-medium coverage but I can tell this foundation is very buildable. The product is blendable and covers up redness and evens out my skin tone but more product will cover up tiny blemishes. This foundation lasts throughout the day for me; however, once again, I have extremely dry skin and this product will most likely slip off rapidly on oily skin. I find my shade has quite a strong yellow undertone...perhaps it's just this shade but it suits my skin nicely. The packaging is also sleek for the incredibly cheap price ($5-$8 depending where you're from/what store). It also has SPF 18, which is always a plus. The product also strangely feels good on my skin, almost cool or hydrating if that makes sense. The only con I can say about this foundation is that I sometimes find the product transfers from my skin. For example, when I wear pullover sweaters, the foundation will get on the sweatshirt easily but I guess that applies to most foundations anyways.

I also might add that this product does occasionally give me a big-ish blemish. I don't have proof that it is from the foundation itself though.

Overall, I absolutely love this foundation and will gravitate toward it if I have a little extra time in the mornings--which is a rare occasion. Those with normal-dry skin (more on the drier end though) will probably like this foundation too. 

Top 5 Favorite TV Shows of ALL TIME

In case you did not know this, I am a HUGE TV junkie and love obsessing over TV shows old or new. I always end up finishing an old show or catching up on shows in a very short period of time, it's scary really. Anyways, I decided to share what are my favorite TV shows of all time. This post was slightly inspired by my good friend, Ahem It's Emme, so go check out her blog. 

1. Friends (1994-2004)
In case you have never watched Friends before, you are really missing out on life. I'm not kidding. One episode of this Emmy-winning comical show will turn anybody's depressing day around. The sitcom focuses on six New Yorkers who never seem to work. The story follows the drama and hilarious events that accompany these amazing characters. Watching the last episode broke my heart to let go of these lovable characters but then you re-watch it from episode 1 and get to relive the comedy once again. If you have netflix or any other sources to watch this legendary series, I definitely insist that you do. They also play re-runs on Nick at Nite from 11pm-1am every night (I still recommend watching it in chronological order though).

2. Lost (2004-2010)

Ah, yes, Lost, probably one of the most bizarre shows of all time. The synopsis consists of a plane crash on a mysterious island and the survivors must face weird happenings around them. The series finale did not tie up any loose ends and left their viewers confused more than they have ever been before. So why do I like it so much? The strangeness of the show and the attachment to the characters and their background are intriguing and captivated a majority of its fan base. To be honest, I don't even know why I like it so much, just ask any other Lost fan and I guarantee you they will most likely say the same thing. It's difficult to convey the storyline of this series without making the show sound absolutely stupid but you just have to take my word that this show is for a lack of better word, awesome.

3. The Walking Dead (2010-present)

Now I never in my life would have thought I would be watching The Walking Dead. The incredibly suspenseful show has dominated my Sunday nights (mostly my Monday nights since I procrastinate my homework Sunday). This is not just some zombie show, the script embodies the sacrifices the characters must make to survive the apocalypse. Consequently, there are dark character developments that truly epitomize what humans would become in dire circumstances. The fact that this show is only three seasons in and has become my third favorite TV show of all time means that I highly recommend anybody that can take gore to watch this epic show.

4. How I Met Your Mother (2005-present)
The CBS comedy show shares a striking resemblance to Friends, but still does not live up to the famous sitcom. However, that still does not mean this show is far from as Barney would say legen-wait for it-DARY. This show's definitely pulling on its last leg here with another season coming up. I truly hope for the cast and crew's stake that season 9 will indeed be the last since the creativity on this show is lacking. Nevertheless, How I Met Your Mother has been a wonderful journey to see five New Yorkers get on with their lives and further (or delay) their career. The star of this show is none other than Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) and his flirtatious ways, but it is nice to see him settle down for the one and only--don't want to spoil it, so you just have to watch it :)

5. Grey's Anatomy (2005-present)
I almost omitted the Grey's Anatomy from this list since the past two seasons have really spiraled down. Nevertheless, the amazingness from the first 5-6 seasons have made up for the mediocre episodes that Shonda Rhimes has been throwing out the past year. Before plummeting to inexcusable boredom, this intensely dramatic and at times heartbreaking medical drama  was a wonderful show that threw out suspenseful and original storylines to capture the hearts of its viewers. Like all shows that run too long, the writers/directors took some missteps in order to rejuvenate the series, but unfortunately, it backfired. I still have hope and will continue watching this series until the end. Despite my criticism of the recent seasons, you should definitely start this wonderful--and always will be---show. And if you still aren't sold, McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) and McSteamy (Eric Dane) should be enough to hook you in ;)
